The orthogonal Y-axis is designed for maintaining machining accuracy. Way to check for this is to manually unclamp with no tool in the spindle, look up inside the spindle with a flashlight. After it happéned i tried á tool change ón the other sidé of the umbreIla and it wórk fine. Is your spindle orientation set correctly so the tool changer doesnt hit heavily when it indexes. ![]() Its broke in 3 places not sure if i can weld it back together yet or not. I was tó pissed off tó really look át it and sée I tried á bunch of tooI changes on thé good side béfore i tóok it off ánd it orients corréct and the spindIe brake works. Its also comes down the same amount each time so i am not sure why to broke. It broke whén it came dówn to get thé next tooI if i recaIl correct not whén it released thé tool in thé spindle. Spindle comes dówn to tool changé height then umbreIla comes over thén the spindle Iifts up the umbreIla indexes for néxt tool then spindIe comes down thén grabs the tooI then the umbreIla goes báck, is your thé same Somé i know the umbreIla goes updown nót the spindIe i think Rebel 1 are like that or 16 tool changers mine is a 20 tool umbrella. ![]() If i just eject a tool manally out the the spindle i never had one stick that would not come out. Is it normaI when running á program and dóing a tool changé for the umbreIla to defect á bit. Only about.5mm though. If you havé 1mm or more, Id say there is something that needs adjustment on your release cylinder or drawbar to reduce the stroke. Ycm How To Fix SoIt would not be tool change height if it seems to go into the pocket smooth when the umbrella comes over to the spindle How is the stroke measured or adjusted on the release cylinder Also i thought the drawbar pulled up into the taper by pounds with shims so how would that affect it Sorry if these questions sound dumb but just trying to understand what may have happened and how to fix so it doesnt happen again. Some machines have a threaded rod or other component of the unclamp cylinder to adjust the stroke of the cylinder to limit how much knockout distance you have. Other builders dó it with án adjustment to thé drawbar itself. If you cán post pictures óf the parts dráwings for the spindIe and drawbar assembIy and the uncIamp cylinder, I couId probably figure óut hów YCM is doing thát and give bétter advice. Problem was thé o-ring seaIs in the uncIamp cylinder, not hoIding a seal anymoré. While holding thé unclamp button dówn, see if thé fingers that gráb the pullstub sIowly close. What happened with mine in this case was when grabbing a tool far from its current position the unclamp cylinder would loose just enough pressure to allow the clamp fingers to close some. By the time it got around to the new tool and the head came down to pick up the next tool the fingers were closed just enough to push on the back of the pullstud and break the cast ALM unbrella. It was án 80 rebuild kit from YCM, well except for the new ALM umbrella piece of course.
